Eric Jaeger, JD, NRP is available to consult as an expert on litigation matters that fall within his areas of expertise:

A focus of his current work is reducing the risk of death associated with the restraint of agitated individuals. He has served as an expert witness or consultant on multiple cases within his areas of expertise. Areas of expertise include in-custody death / cardiac arrest (sometimes called restraint related cardiac arrest or positional asphyxia), restraint (esp. prone restraint), sedation (including issues related to ketamine, midazolam and droperidol, monitoring and resuscitation), de-escalation, implicit bias and discrimination (as well as treatment inequities and racism), airway management (including rapid/delayed sequence intubation, pre oxygenation and hemodynamics), agitated delirium (sometimes referred to as hyperactive delirium, excited delirium or acute behavioral disturbance), patients with disabilities (sometimes referred to as special healthcare needs), patient consent and capacity to refuse or accept care, and mental health / behavioral emergencies.

He has spoken at major national and state conferences, including NAEMSP (Nat’l Assoc of EMS Physicians) and EMS World. He is a resource for the news media on issues related to EMS and death in custody. He has developed updated EMS protocols on restraint and sedation. 

Eric earned his BS in Computer Science from MIT and his Law Degree from Boston College. He worked for ten years as an attorney, serving healthcare clients in Boston and beyond. Until recently, Eric served as the EMS Educator at Exeter Hospital in Seacoast New Hampshire, where he was responsible for providing education for Exeter's ALS Intercept paramedics, the emergency department staff and surrounding EMS agencies. As a paramedic, Eric cared for patients in the emergency department and the field.
