Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Eric Jaeger, doing business as TheHardWork.org ("we", "us"), collects on thehardwork.org and the course site at learn.thehardwork.org (the "Sites"), how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • What you give us: your name, email address and message when you contact us or submit a form, including inquiries about expert witness work, consulting or training.

  • Course account and enrollment information: your name, email, organization and password. If you choose the continuing education (CE) pathway, we also collect the EMS credential details needed to report CE credit, such as certification type, issuing state, license or certification number, expiration date and, if you have one, your NEMSID. Do not send us passwords or full card numbers by email.

  • Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of your purchase, not your full card number.

  • Course activity: videos viewed, quiz and evaluation results, completion status and certificates.

  • Automatic information: IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and referring page, collected through cookies and similar tools.

How we use information

  • To provide, support and secure the Sites and your account.

  • To process enrollment and payment, track completion, and issue certificates.

  • To report completion for CE credit to CAPCE when you choose the CE pathway.

  • To answer your messages and handle expert witness, consulting and training inquiries.

  • To understand how the Sites are used and improve them.

  • To meet legal obligations and protect our rights.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers that run the Sites for us: Wix (website hosting and forms), our course platform host, and Stripe.

  • CAPCE and, as permitted by CAPCE's privacy statement, the credentialing or regulatory bodies it authorizes, when you choose the CE pathway.

  • Your employer or agency, only if it enrolled or paid for you.

  • Authorities or other parties when the law requires it or to protect our rights, safety or property.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies in three ways: strictly necessary cookies that keep the Sites working and your account signed in; analytics cookies that show how the Sites are used; and, if enabled, cookies from embedded third-party content such as video. thehardwork.org does not currently show a cookie consent banner. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may then not work. Our website host, Wix, sets essential cookies for security and core site function, and runs Wix Analytics to report aggregate traffic such as pages visited, device type and approximate location. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels or session-recording tools on thehardwork.org.

How long we keep information

We keep information for as long as needed for the purposes above. Course completion and certificate records are kept for three years so we can verify credit. Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to respond and for our records.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures, and rely on the security of our providers, to protect information. No online service is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or object to a use, by emailing us at the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy law, and we will honor requests as that law requires. Corrections to CE records already reported to CAPCE may require contacting CAPCE as well.

Children

The Sites are intended for adult professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Links to other sites

The Sites link to other websites, including journals, CAPCE and social media. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed. Continued use of the Sites after a change means you accept the updated policy.
